Yorktel is currently seeking a Staff Tax Accountant who will play a pivotal role on the accounting team within finance. This position will prepare and file Sales & Use tax and VAT returns. Will work closely with outside resources in filing and paying GST/HST and telecom voice taxes. Will be involved in the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and recording of financial close journal entries. Will offer expertise and guidance on tax issues.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Handles and is expected to protect all internal and external confidential information and must utilize discretion and judgment based on company policies and procedures.
• Prepare, file and make payments for monthly state Sales & Use tax returns.
• Prepare, file and make payments for quarterly VAT and Canadian GST/HST tax returns.
• Perform various month end reconciliations of tax related accounts.
• Prepare monthly tax journal entries.
• Maintain a current tax calendar.
• Register for sales & use tax with states as needed
• Respond to tax inquiries from internal employees and departments.
• Assist with state, federal regulatory and US Census filings
• Perform research and technical analysis of tax issues as needed.
• Prepare tax schedules and support for outside auditors during year end audit.
• Assist Accounting team with month end close tasks as required.

Education & Experience:

• B.A. in Accounting or Taxation
• CPA is preferred
• 2+ years of tax related experience at corporate or public level
• Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, IFS, and various Accounting Software Packages

Additional Requirements:

• May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs)
• Requires extensive sitting, standing and walking
• Domestic travel requiring multi-night stays within and at times outside the local work area
• Valid U.S. driver’s license
• Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts
• Must be willing to apply for security clearances, suitability, and other related clearances to be able to work at certain customer locations.
