Loan Officer Assistant – Mortgage Industry
Location: Sherman Oaks, CA
Type: Full-Time

A successful and growing mortgage company is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Loan Officer Assistant to support one of the nation’s top-producing mortgage teams in Sherman Oaks. We are looking for a proactive, self-starter with a strong background in mortgage processing, a “can do” attitude, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee mortgage loan applications from start to finish, including file opening, credit history, submission, and retrieval of loan conditions. Manage deadlines efficiently and ensure all required documentation is collected and organized.
  • Review loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Correct errors and resolve discrepancies in loan applications. Request and track missing documentation from clients.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the loan officer, processors, clients, Realtors, and third-party vendors. Provide updates on loan status, answer inquiries, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Manage and track loan progress through the system, ensuring timely completion of tasks and adherence to deadlines. Update loan officers on the status of loans and conditions.
  • Gather client information such as assets, income, debts, and employment status for loan applications. Ensure all required documents are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Provide exceptional service to clients, Realtors, and agents. Respond promptly to emails and calls, and follow up as needed to ensure a smooth loan process.
  • Send weekly status updates via CRM, provide end-of-day summaries of completed tasks, and outline objectives for the following day or week.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-5 years in residential lending, with a strong understanding of mortgage products, programs, and systems. Mortgage banking experience is a plus.
  • Communication and Technical Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex mortgage concepts clearly to clients. Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Ability to manage a large pipeline and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy, especially in reviewing and organizing loan documentation.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Time Management: Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Occasional Travel: May be required.
  • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for providing outstanding service.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.
