Schedule: 4/10 Schedule, Monday - Thursday
QUALIFICATIONS: •High School Diploma or equivalent desired. Vocational training preferred but not required.
•One (1) to Three (3) plus years experience with single needle and double needle machines, over lock and bar tack sewing machine applications in a production environment or equivalent.
DESIRED COMPETENCIES/ABILITIES/SKILLS: •Advance knowledge of single needle, double needle, overlock and bar tack sewing machine
•Knowledge of sewing machine maintenance and setup skills
•Experienced mechanical and measurement skills
•Skilled working with various materials, webbings and fabric
•Communication skills- both oral and written are required
•Basic Computer and Math Skills
•Must be dependable, reliable and able to work independently and in teams
ABOUT THE JOB! Accomplishes various production sewing functions that vary in complexity. Fabricates specialized paramilitary garments and accessories in accordance with written instructions, or by following drawings or diagrams. Operates any needed equipment to perform job. Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to verbal or written instructions, or by following drawings or diagrams. Operates hand tools, power tools, or production equipment.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Fabricates specialized paramilitary garments and accessories using production sewing equipment
•Set-up machine, raw material, and fabric for production processing
•Assembles various types of components using standard and specialty hand tools, power tools, or production equipment
•Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
•Performs first part verification
•Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, changing needles/thread/bobbins, etc.
•Sets machinery stops or guides to specified length and follows specified instructions as indicated by scale, rule or template
•Follows oral or written instructions including daily requirement of work sheets which includes computer entries of quantities, labor hours etc.
•Completes other duties as directed by the Department Supervisor or Lead
LOCATION: Gentex's Carbondale facility is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania in Lackawanna County. Carbondale, PA is about twenty miles north of Scranton, PA, 50 miles south of Binghamton, NY, and about 125 miles from New York City and Philadelphia. The area hosts numerous nearby state parks, nature preserves and local colleges and universities, including The University of Scranton and Marywood University. Northeast Pennsylvania is a beautiful area and offers an excellent cost of living. It is a great place to work, meet people, raise a family and live!
