Job Description

Overview Chicago Title NCS CA seeks an experienced, detail-oriented, and professional Commercial Title Officer. This position reads and examines title searches to determine the effect on properties and reviews upper court judgment searches. The successful candidate will be an excellent reader and critical thinker. Strong writing and communication skills are needed in order to prepare reports, commitments, and maps. Due to the supervisory nature of this position and the collaboration required with other departments, this position is best filled by a respectful team player with integrity and strong decision-making skills. JOB SUMMARY: Our title officer reads and examines title searches to determine the effect on properties. S/He reviews all closing documents and instructions pertaining to transactions. This position supervises the workload of all members of the title unit. Duties Reads and plots legal descriptions on tax maps and/or filed maps. Reviews upper court judgment searches and determines if they attach to the property. Enters data into the title database, generates the necessary documentation, and emails the client. Completes the real estate closing process; ensures compliance with real estate contracts, lender instructions, title requirements, company requirements, and other written instructions. Collaborates with the escrow department to resolve title issues (e.g., legal descriptions, easements, lot splits, vesting, tax liens, abstracts of judgments, bankruptcies, boundary disputes, encroachments, and list pendants). Oversees the issuance of checks, bills, statements, receipts, and other documents needed to ensure customer satisfaction. Conducts closings with customers, realtors, lenders, and attorneys. Reads, examines, and prepares update reports upon request. Processes incoming orders and searches upon request. Reviews industry publications to remain knowledgeable of changes in laws and practices affecting the issuance of title policies. Performs any other duties delegated by management. Adheres to company policies and guidelines. Education A high school diploma, or GED Equivalent, is required. Experience Minimum of two (2) years of experience in title closings is preferred.

Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the title industry field. This position requires repetitive use of a keyboard, bending, sitting, squatting, and simple grasping. This position requires use of one’s own vehicle for transportation during the workday. This position is eligible to earn compensation in the range of $70,000 - $100,000/annually based on location and job-related factors such as skillset and experience.
