Position Summary This position serves as an academic and career advisor on the Lone Tree Campus in Flagstaff, AZ. The academic advisor serves as a primary resource for students in academic advising with a focus on career exploration and development. The advisor holistically guides students to plan, learn, reflect, and engage in ways appropriate for their educational path, career, and personal development. Serves as key member of the academic advising team. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position.

- Full Salary Range: $48,363 - $71,577/annual - depending on education and experience
- Cafeteria Plan: In addition to the base compensation, benefits-eligible employees receive an extra $5,640 per year to put toward benefit costs or to be used as additional take-home pay
- Paid Holidays: 21 (including a full week off between Christmas and New Year's Day and over Spring Break)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Assists the Director of Advising and Career Services with establishing goals and objectives for the college's career services initiatives.
- At the discretion of the Director, will be assigned to a specific CCC student cohort.
- Develops and presents materials used for providing career advising; organizes student success related workshops or activities including training, or facilitating career focused workshops.
- Constantly monitors, analyzes and evaluates current scope of career services offered through academic advising and plans, implements and directs new initiatives under the supervision of the Director of Advising and Career Services.
- Advises program participants over the entire college district involving personal and educational issues related to their academic and life goals. Determines or develops a specific course of action, or makes recommendations or referrals to internal programs and outside agencies if required.
- Gathers data and maintains confidential files of advisement participants.
- Monitors participants' progress within a particular educational program and formulates academic plans in Degree Works audit software.
- Maintains up to date knowledge about the college's programs and requirements; utilizes articulation software from transfer institutions regarding course and program transferability, admissions and graduation requirements.
- Informs students about alternatives, limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g. adding, dropping and withdrawing from courses, change of program, major and/or transfer institution).
- Provide academic advising and career services for retention purposes, aligning with the College's mission, 4DX methodology, and Achieve the Dream initiatives.
- Provides career advising expertise to students regarding the job search process, interviewing, resume, and all other facets of career planning through the use of the college's career assessment/exploration software (Pipeline AZ).
- Partner with local agencies to provide students with employment opportunities.
- Provides unofficial evaluation of transfer transcripts from other academic institutions for possible application to CCC degree programs.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to provide career/degree related workshops for students.
- May require development of training and professional development presentations for internal stakeholders regarding academic/career pathways at CCC.
- Serves as a liaison to external departments, groups, and agencies. Serves on internal committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of student development, career development, academic advising and retention issues in higher education. Knowledge of community resources and referral processes. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with groups and individuals of differing cultural or socio-economic backgrounds. Teaching and presenting experience to high school and adult learners. Strong written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills. Working knowledge in Microsoft Suite; knowledge in Banner student information system and DegreeWorks audit software is preferred. Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education or related field, and two years of directly related experience in student affairs, academic advising, career counseling, or related field within a higher education setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
